Guiding the Waves

Wave-Guide Communicatios was a pvt ltd company, Manalan owned the company.

Wave-guide was clearly a parking spot till I found something meaningful. The dotcom crash ensured no jobs and many folks switching to non-IT space. I decided to stay put-on. Thanks to Naresh - Manalan hired me in Waveguide Communications (WGC).

I would go to the office everyday and we would scot for RF orders, things were getting tougher. The RF industry was going thro transformation. BSNL's dominance in the telecom space was coming to an end and private players started offering back up lines, last mile lines, Data and voice circuits. RF players were losing heavily. Some of them rode the change and went on to become big players like Shyam telecom. WGC was not big enough nor lucky enough nor visionary enough.

My times at WGC were pretty good though money was a big issue. I recall Aruna the ever smiling secy and Loknath - big fellow who ran errands at the office.

Manalan was good person at heart, service engineer at the core with developing sales skills.

Times were bad for IT. People were losing jobs. Companies were shrinking or closing down. However, I was very optimistic and was continuously looking around. Plan B was to start a business. Ravi Angre - my colleague in Trojan & I started a company called 3dtvt.com. (3D + Creativity). This company was to develop walk thro and other 3d visuals for sales and marketing companies. I bought a cell phone and printed biz cards. We approached some potential clients and they insisted on seeing some demo work. We started doing the demo CD using 3DS Max.

While at WGC - the plan B was ON, Time sharing and spending my weekends on 3dtvt. We could never complete the demo work fully and show it to anybody.

Retro look: Parking spot, thanks to Naresh and Manalan. Started a company - dreamt big - failed in execution.
